First Day of School!!!

THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!! I can't believe it is here! What a wonderful first day! I told our class this... and I really feel this way.... that this is probably one of the most enjoyable first day bunches I've ever had! They are just a sweet group of little ones! We started the day in the gym as Mr. Dean announced new personnel, etc. Soon it was time to go to our room and there were a few nervous faces, I do believe! :) Truth is, Mrs. Barker was nervous,too! This is my 16th year teaching and I still get nervous on the first day of school! I had a little helper in my room today! Ms. Cindy (Gracie's Nana) stayed to put away school supplies (so appreciated!) Omiword! My closet was embarrassing.... I had so much stuff crammed in that little shallow closet... that I really don't know what to say! I had been meaning to organize it myself but it just didn't happen. Needless to say, when Ms. Cindy left, all the shelves were neatly aligned! Thanks so much, Ms. Cindy!!! We made hats today that read "My first day in First Grade!". I know some of you parents are wondering what happened to your babies...all grown up! I look at my (almost) 2 year old and wonder that all the time.... so I can only imagine what it will be like in 5 years! We also made little pirates to go with our little classroom theme. In between all of this, I went over some of procedures... little attention getters that I do from time to time. I went over the rules and the consequences for breaking the rules. I read a story to the class entitled "First Day Jitters"
